Stunning Whisky Distillery tours in Lowland Scotland
Lowland Scotland has an excellent selection of fine Whisky and Gin Distilleries, some lesser known, which I believe makes it even more interesting. On route to some of these exciting Distilleries you will enjoy some lovely natural scenery and the opportunity to visit other places of interest along the way.
A typical Itinerary :
* Pick up from your accommodation in Edinburgh or Glasgow and travel a short distance East to Glenkinchie Distillery, which dates back to 1825 and is home to a selection of exquisite single malts from Bourbon American Oak barrels, it is also home to the world famous Johnnie Walker whisky.
* Travel North across the Queensferry crossing where you can enjoy a view of the Historic UNESCO World Heritage Forth Railway Bridge, which dates back to 1890.
* Then, on towards Tullibardine Distillery which dates back to 1949 although history tells us that this very site was that of a Brewery back in the 15th Century, enjoying Royal Charter from the then King James IV of Scotland, to this day it uses the same Spring water that was also later enjoyed by Highland Spring.
* Thereafter travel to Glengoyne Distillery, this family run Distillery which dates back to 1833 will offer you a truly personal experience with a stunning informative tour that you are sure to speaking about for years to come. Thereafter returning to your accommodation.
These Distilleries, most of which are fully operational Distilleries, have guided tours and tasting sessions available at an additional cost with prior booking.
